a5c7b9f00b An international police inspector named &quot;Gadget&quot;, is the inept inspector who is on the trail of M.A.D. and their sinister leader Dr. Claw. Along with his overly eager niece Penny and his trusted dog Brain, He is determined to bring down M.A.D. Unfortunately, Gadget is not good at his job and most of his gadgets are not much help either. So, Penny and Brain do all of the hard work for him, but let him take all of the credit. A bumbling bionic police inspector stumbles about on his cases, while his niece and dog secretly do the real investigative work. This is about the series in general.<br/><br/>My perspective is one that is a bit egg-heady I suppose. I study film and the evolution of film and how it sees itself. <br/><br/>One milestone in any evolution is when something becomes so well known, so surrounded by its meaning that it becomes material for kiddie humor. <br/><br/>You can trace the notion of a film detective, and his more adventuresome cousin the detective/spy. You can trace it continuously and see how it has matured and become enough of a staple to be a springboard for all sorts of innovations. In ordinary film, the detective is often linked with the modern phenomenon I call noir. That is when the causal events in the film are lifted from the world in the film to the world of the viewer.<br/><br/>Here we have a detective who solves every crime even without knowing what he is doing. He is not our on screen surrogateis usual, a little girl is, of course. <br/><br/>The other notable characteristic of this character concerns the devices engineered into the guy&#39;s body. They have been put there, noir-fashion-like by some agency outside of the story. (The evil opponent is only seen from behind watching on a TeeVee,we would be.) He can invoke the gadgets, butoften, they come to life by themselves. Naturally, the joke is about the superhero nature we had (by this time) applied to the spy-detective. But it also plays on the fact that the superhero powers come from the watcher, not the guy.<br/><br/>Ted&#39;s Evaluation – 1 of 3: You can find something better to do with this part of your life. The fact that the hero of this show is the wacky sidekick made this show one of the most clever and original shows of its time. All of the gadgets that…Gadget used just shows what a fantastic policeman he would be, but where would the humour be? No. Better to leave the cases to the geeky niece who &quot;tags along&quot; with the cases and ends up solving them herself. The addition of the Brain character was a clever one. That dog was always my favourite character. He only added to the humour contained in this show. A really wild and wacky show with a few mysteries still to solve. Well, one really. WHAT DOES DR. CLAW LOOK LIKE??? I guess I&#39;ll have to wait until the movie comes out. Apparently Rupert Everett is playing Dr. Claw and we all know what Rupert Everett looks like, don&#39;t we? Matthew Broderick should be greatthe big Inspector himself. I just hope he can pick up from where he left off in that shocking &quot;Godzilla&quot;. If there are repeats in America(as I know there are in Australia), then I strongly suggest watching them. Well worth a kid&#39;s afternoon after school(Better than doing homework, isn&#39;t it).
